In the 1950s, the optical art movement emerged and revolutionised the new modalities of perception. Their works, which were genuine playful or interactive games, exploited the biological faculties of the human body – retinal dynamism, optical acceleration, diversion of the gaze – and appealed to the various senses through games of light or works that could be manipulated, penetrated or sounded.
